Director of Finance - Manufacturing

Altair Advanced Industries, a member of the Alpha Group, which provides world-class powering solutions, seeks a Director of Finance to join their team in Bellingham, WA.

Summary: Serves as financial advisor to the company providing financial analysis and planning, budget control, accounting methods and profit and loss reporting. 


• Perform financial reporting and analysis, development and implementation of uniform systems, internal control procedures and processes, and budget formulation and analysis

• Control accounting operations, maintain fiscal records, and prepare financial reports

• Review, analyze, and interpret all financial and budget reports

• Direct the activities of general accounting, internal auditing, cost accounting, and budgetary controls

• Prepare and interpret accounting and financial data for measurement of the organization's financial condition

• Make recommendations to management on changes and improvement to systems

• Supervise the work of accounting staff; coach, mentor and develop current accounting/finance staff, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities

Provide effective performance feedback through employee recognition, rewards and disciplinary action with the assistance of Human Resources

• Establish priorities and principles

• Operate department within budget

• Oversee budget preparation, consolidation, review and roll-up

• Assist financial executive management with insurance review and renewal and treasury management review and renewal

Requirements and Skills:

Education:  Bachelor Degree or equivalent military training  

 Experience:  6-8 years   , Supervisory: 4-6 years

• Strong understanding of financial analysis, account budgeting and forecasting

• Analytical and understand different cost systems and material flow concepts • Solid understanding of GAAP

• Ability to meet expected 100% attendance requirement

• Will work on-site (no tele-commuting)

• Ability to follow written and verbal directions in the English language

• Ability to speak/read/write English

• Detail oriented

• Strong organizational skills

• Work well under pressure

PC Application Skills: Intermediate level:  Word, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook Advanced level: Excel

Desirable: CPA, CMA, MBA, Manufacturing Experience, Prior SAP Experience, Work experience with multiple legal entities

Travel Requirements:   Expected <10%
