Altair Advanced Industries, Inc., a member of the Alpha Group, which provides world-class powering solutions, seeks an IT Systems Administrator to join their team in Bellingham, WA.

Summary: Provides technical support for end-users with an emphasis on software application and network hardware support.  Resolves moderate to complex problems in support of AIS server and storage infrastructure.  Interacts closely with network, communications, and security administration to assist in the restoration of services and or identify and help correct core problems. 


• Perform user administration on e-mail and network servers

• Provide second level support for Help Desk issues

• Work with and set network permissions on network servers

• Perform administrative tasks on system backup equipment and software

• Provide backup support for hardware support function

• Install, troubleshoot, and support networked printers, copiers, and fax machines

• Log all support requests and resolutions in the AIS call tracking software

• Work with other AIS specialists in analyzing and solving cross platform software and hardware issues

• Maintain and update asset records of all software and hardware information in AIS asset database

• Create and/or maintain AIS related records and documentation

• Enforce and follow AIS policies and procedures

• Recommend system modifications to reduce user problems

• Serve as liaison between AIS and end-users when major service issues arise

Additional Responsibilities may include:

• Assist AIS management with projects as required

• Provide support for end-user and networked peripherals, e.g. printer, scanners, and fax machines as load requires

• Assist with answering the Help Desk phone and e-mail as load requires


Requirements and Skills:

Education:  2 Year Degree or equivalent military training in field of computer information systems or related

Experience:  2-4 years in related field; Help Desk or PC related experiences   

• Ability to meet expected 100% attendance requirement

• Will work on-site (no tele-commuting)

• Ability to follow written and verbal directions in the English language

• Ability to speak/read/write English

• Detail oriented

• Strong organizational skills

• Work well under pressure

• Current driver’s license and acceptable driving record

• Sufficient credit line for business expenses

• Available weekends and after hours when on call

• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows OS (Server & Workstation) and Microsoft Office Suite

• Working knowledge of networking and the TCP/IP protocol

• Working knowledge of PC hardware and printing systems

• Ability to present a logical approach to illogical reactions from customers

• Ability to effectively communicate to a user who is responding emotionally

• Ability to excel in a fast paced professional environment while adapting to changes in organization, policy, and procedures

• Ability to follow and create project plans as directed by the AIS management and provide quantifiable project updates throughout the project

• Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communications skills

• Ability to efficiently use time and resources in accomplishing daily and project goals while maintaining a customer service oriented attitude
