Quality Engineer II

Altair Advanced Industries, a member of the Alpha Group, which provides world-class powering solutions, seeks a Quality Engineer II for its manufacturing facility in Suwanee, GA.

Summary:
The responsibilities for this position include process improvement, quality improvement and customer relationship activities.  This position provides “hands-on" quality support for the Quality team both conceptually and on the shop floor.  Investigates and solves manufacturing-related problems using formal problem-solving tools including 8D, DMAIC, and statistical analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Use statistical tools to analyze data, make acceptance decisions, and improve process capability (Six Sigma, SPC, DOE, FMEA).
  • Monitor suppliers through close communication and interaction. Work with Engineering, Purchasing and Manufacturing to solve Supplier quality problems that effect delivery of product to customers.  Audit and evaluate current and potential suppliers.
  • Facilitate manufacturing process and design changes to resolve quality issues and maintain compliance to quality standards
  • Participate in MRB review of nonconforming product; recommend disposition and corrective action.
  • Maintain and monitor quality management system.
  • Prepare QA paperwork and Certificate of Conformace for products
  • ISO Management Representative and Lead Auditor ISO9001/ISO14001


Additional Responsibilities may include:

  • Create, review, and approve SOPs, QA Work Instructions
  • Make technical and statistical investigation on quality problems, methods and equipment, and make recommendations.
  • Monitor warranty expense and participate in warranty expense reduction efforts
  • Demonstrate continual self-improvement.
  • Performs other duties assigned as needed.
  • Strong procedure, instruction and report writer skills
  • Ability to interpret drawings and schematics
  • Ability to change priorities as required
  • Effectively present ideas and proposals

Requirements and Skills:

Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent military training in the field of science or engineering

Experience:
2-4 years in the field of Quality Engineering

Supervisory:
None

PC Application Skills:
Basic level: Powerpoint, Access
Intermediate level: Word, Outlook
Advanced level: Excel
Other: SPC software programs, Keyboarding skills

Desirable:

  • Experience as ISO auditing
  • SAP QM module knowledge
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) and Six Sigma methodology experience are preferred.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in electronic manufacturing industry.


Travel Requirements:

  • Expected <10%
