Broadband Power Leader Equips MSOs for Untapped Revenue Opportunities, Improved Subscriber Service
BELLINGHAM, Wash. – September 26, 2016 – Alpha Technologies Inc., global leader in broadband power solutions, unveiled the AlphaGateway family of products, which blend hybrid fiber-coaxial (HFC) power and backhaul capacity, during SCTE Cable-Tec Expo September 26 to 28 in Philadelphia. Awarded 4 out of 5 Diamonds in Broadband Technology Report’s 2016 Diamond Technology Reviews, the AlphaGateway approach proactively addresses the increased demands of multiple service operators (MSOs) to deliver advanced services for customers using existing HFC networks. Celebrating 40 years of broadband expertise, the AlphaGateway products join Alpha’s complete vision of delivering total broadband solutions while providing MSOs access to potentially untapped B2B revenue streams and to serve broadband and cable subscribers around the world.
As subscribers command more bandwidth for streaming video, sharing photos, and recording podcasts, and businesses and municipalities seek to deploy small cell, Wi-Fi and security solutions, reliable connections with backhaul capability become critical. Easily deployable throughout the outside plant network, the AlphaGateway family provides power over Ethernet (PoE), which is the standard interface for Wi-Fi radios, IP cameras, small cell radios and other connected devices. Using the AlphaGateway capabilities, operators gain flexibility for interactive device placement with minimal capital investment.
“The broadband industry faces many pressures to deliver high-quality networks that are dependable and efficient,” said Tom Gorman, program director for the Diamond Technology Review Program. “The AlphaGateway family impressed judges with its ability to help easily deploy devices in flexible placements, giving operators plenty of new revenue opportunities, as well as deliver on their commitments to quality for subscribers.”
John Hewitt, senior vice president of the broadband products group and North American cable sales for Alpha Technologies, said,
We’re seeing unprecedented growth in small cell, Wi-Fi, Internet of Things, security and surveillance, and many service providers are eager to outfit their networks to meet that growing demand. In fact, the cable and broadband industry has the best infrastructure and processes in place to support demand for reliable power and backhaul capacity. The AlphaGateway products open many new doors for operators looking to capitalize on the opportunity by deploying connected devices on the existing HFC network.
