Altair Advanced Industries, a member of the Alpha Group, which provides world-class powering solutions, seeks a Help Desk Technician 1 to join their team in Bellingham, WA. 

This position provides technical support for end-users.  Resolves basic-to-moderate problems in support of the Help Desk.  Interacts closely with network, communications, and security administrators to assist in the restoration of services and to identify and help correct core problems.   


 Serve as support specialist for PC applications, software, hardware and peripherals
 Provide support for end-user and networked peripherals, e.g., printer, scanners, fax machines, and photocopiers
 Answer the Help Desk phone and e-mail requests
 Log all support requests and resolutions in help desk call-tracking system
 Work with other AIS specialists in analyzing and solving cross-platform software and hardware issues
 Perform limited user administration on e-mail and network systems
 Maintain and update asset records of all software and hardware information in AIS asset database
 Create and/or maintain Help Desk related information, records and documentation
 Enforce and follow AIS policies and procedures
 Serve as liaison between AIS and end-users when network/telecom issues arise
 Install consumables on printer, copiers and fax machines
 Provide clear communications to AIS personnel on current activities and whereabouts 
 Assist AIS management with projects as required
 Facilitate repairs for copiers and fax machines with outside contracted vendors
 Perform hardware and software moves, adds and changes
 Recommend system modifications to reduce user problems

Requirements and Skills:

 Ability to meet expected 100% attendance requirement
 Will work on-site (no tele-commuting)
 Ability to follow written and verbal directions in the English language
 Ability to speak/read/write English
 Detail oriented
 Strong organizational skills
 Work well under pressure
 Current driver’s license and acceptable driving record
 Sufficient credit line for business expenses
 Available Weekends and after hours when on call
 Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office (all current versions)
 Working knowledge of PC networking
 Working knowledge of PC hardware and printing systems
 Ability to effectively communicate to a user who is responding emotionally
 Ability to excel in a fast paced professional environment while adapting to changes in organization, policy, and procedures
 Ability to follow project plans as directed by the AIS management and provide quantifiable project updates throughout the project
 Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communications skills
 Ability to efficiently use time and resources in accomplishing daily and project goals while maintaining a customer service oriented attitude

Education: 2 Year Degree in field of computer information systems or related

Experience: Less than 1 year

PC Application Skills:

Intermediate level:  Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, Project


  • Current Microsoft MCP certification or higher
  • Current A+ certification
    • Prior SAP experience
