Description

We are seeking a Services Buyer for our team in Bellingham, WA. This person will perform a variety of routine purchasing activities in support of Preventative Maintenance (PM) and Outside Plant (OSP) operations requirements. Develop and coordinate quotation packages for commodities serving multiple locations

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage, investigate, reconcile and process large volumes of invoices daily
  • Validate purchase requisitions, vendor quotations, and maintain pricelists required to successfully execute purchase orders and process large volumes of invoices
  • Ensure timely and accurate purchases of parts, materials, equipment, goods, and services necessary to support Preventative Maintenance contract deadlines and delivery dates
  • Prepare and maintain required support documentation
  • Negotiate, expedite and track changes relative to delivery and internal/external requirements
  • Maintain professional relationships with internal and external customers and suppliers
  • Work closely with PM service support team to execute SAP generated requisitions
  • Contact potential vendors, perform reference checks, review quotations and evaluate each purchase requisition for the most appropriate methods of procurement
  • Monitor on-going vendor performance, provide vendor feedback, facilitate vendor performance improvement where appropriate
  • Review purchase orders for accuracy
  • Establish priorities for assigned commodities with key vendors and ensure priorities are maintained
  • Maintain effective communication with both internal and external customers
  • Interface with all levels of management both internally and externally
  • Continuously strive to reduce cost of assigned commodities
  • Interact with engineering department to assist in the sourcing of materials, with respect to cost, quality and availability of materials
  • Advise management of invoicing, vendor, and project developments pertinent to ATS Services
  • Generate reports per specified processes that measure key buyer performance metrics
  • Perform all SAP functions to facilitate purchasing, invoicing, and reporting
  • Assist Purchasing Coordinators as directed

 

Requirements and Skills:

Education:   2 Year Degree or equivalent military training

Experience:  1 - 2 years in field of: purchasing or AR/AP with some combination of engineering, customer service, or product management experience

Supervisory:  N/A

 

  • Excellent record of attendance
  • Will work on-site (no tele-commuting)
  • Ability to speak/read/write English
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Work well under pressure
  • Experience in invoice investigation and reconciliation
  • Ability to adjust quickly to client driven process modifications and execute processes accurately within current requirements
  • Ability to communicate with internal stakeholders, external vendor partners and management in person, via email and over the phone on a daily basis
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work extended hours as required when deadlines are imminent
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and SAP
  • Ability to use critical thinking and high sense of urgency
  • Ability to change priorities as required
  • Problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
  • MRP/ERP background
  • Strong interpersonal skills

 

PC Application Skills:

Basic level:  Word, Excel

Intermediate level:  Outlook

Advanced level:

Other: MRP/ERP system

Travel Requirements: N/A

 

Desirable:

  • Knowledge and use of supply chain logistic concepts
  • Understanding of order entry, customer billings, and AR/AP
  • Prior SAP and Sharepoint experience
  • Four-year college degree in business
  • CPIM, CPM or APP certification
