Alpha Technologies, which provides world-class powering solutions, seeks a Technical Team Leader for Regulatory Compliance for its team in Bellingham, WA.

Technical Team Leader – Regulatory Compliance

Identify applicable global standards and perform EMC/EMI, ESD, surge and safety compliance reviews and acceptance testing with the team of technicians and peer development engineers for Alpha’s power supplies and gateway products. Apply knowledge of electronics design, analytical thinking, electro-mechanical packaging solutions to create design guidelines, test plans, and test reports with senior technicians. Provide technical mentoring for less experienced employees. This individual will be an integral contributor of requirements documentation, verification tests, validation testing and formal reporting of global compliance for internal and external consumption.

Define and document EMI/EMC, safety and other regulatory compliance requirements with engineering and product management for global products
Conduct design investigation for regulatory aspects, contribute to team design reviews before and during prototyping, and conduct testing to assure designs meet targeted regulatory standards
Coordinate EMC testing resources both internally and externally for engineering projects
Work closely with senior safety engineer and development leaders in engineering to prepare and execute project plans and prepare reports
Document compliance reports from internal and outside laboratories in timely manner with the team
Help drive proper calibration and functioning of EMC and safety test capabilities at Alpha’s laboratories; assure equipment remains in compliance with regulatory bodies’ requirements

Experience, Skills Required:
Minimum 3 years of history of taking products successfully through to certification per FCC, EN, ESD, NEBS, CE, UL, CSA or similar standards
Knowledgeable in international, North American, Latin American, European, and Asian safety and EMC standards for industrial powering products with analog/digital hardware, battery chargers and real time control embedded software content
Working knowledge for unintentional and intentional radiators: FCC CFR47 Part 15, IEC/EN 55022, CISPR22, IEC/EN55024, CISPR24 at a minimum. IEC/EN 50083-2 (CATV) and EIC/EN 62040-2 (UPS) EMC experience desired.
Clear and effective communication skills – both verbal and written for effective interchange with management, engineering teams, external test labs, and regulatory agencies
Ability to work independently, as a team member, and as a team leader
Experience and familiarity with environmental test suite and equipment for technology products
Capable of using all standard lab test equipment (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, data
acquisition, surge, ESD, etc.)
Working knowledge of ISO 17025 test lab requirements and processes

Required Qualifications
Minimum: BSEE or BSET, Masters preferred
Minimum 6 years of relevant experience
Minimum 2 years of technical team leadership experience

Personnel management experience
Experience in power conversion devices and topologies
